In Norse mythology, the Einherjar are the undead spirits of warriors who died bravely in battle. The most courageous of all the fallen, these chosen are escorted triumphantly to Odin’s Hall of the Dead by the Valkyries to dwell and train in Valhalla until the end of days–and the inevitable battle of Ragnarök.

EINHERJAR BAND LUXE EDITION SYMBOLISM

Viking Bearded Battle Axes – The mainstay weapon of the Viking warrior. The lower portion of the axe bit is the “beard.” This style allows for a large cutting surface while minimizing weight. The beard also worked as a hook and was used to grab weapons out of the enemy's hands and pull down a defender's shield. The Battle Axe has become a universal symbol of the Warrior, representing not only the power of destruction but of creation. It’s a reminder to power through adversity—and come through stronger than before.

Nordic Knotwork – Unlike the more symmetrical, denser, and abstract Celtic knotwork, Viking knotwork tended to be more free-flowing. Graceful and intricate, Nordic knots are more likely to depict people, animals, and things.
