Efrain sees the endless duality in everyday life, the ever persistent presence of good vs evil. Understanding that life is a continuous journey of rise and fall, struggle and ease, his piece, The Reckoning, reminds us of the double nature which exists in life, society and death – each containing a path that inevitably splits into two opposing directions; one brings us closer to our goals and ambitions and the other sends us further from it; the ultimate consequence of choice. It is our day to day struggles that dictates our eternal consequences.

Efrain's Signature Series piece pays homage to the personal battles found within and around us, a battle that can be understood by all. At the center, stands a cross subjected to the abuse of time and nature, splintering, crumbling, echoing the vulnerability of mankind. The Vines stretch and squeeze, consuming the structure underneath, representing the suffocating effects of the dark power of negativity burdening the lightness of positivity. The skulls demonstrate the eventuality of death, mortality, but questions the final destination, will you be thwarted into hell or carried up to Heaven? The final journey defined by the choices we have made in this life. Through the darkness, hope still exists and is symbolized by the fiery, red garnet center stone, a heart still beats beneath the weight of it all, blazing through the obstacles of life to ignite the purity of true believe in self, in God,and in all.
